ABRC is proud to support and be asociated with the following programs and organizations in our community: |
Community:
ABRC will participate in the Pedal Link Project which will run from April 1st through September 30th, 2011.
The project's objectives are to collect bicycle data (miles ridden by participating members) during the referenced period to help prove to local transportation officials just how many people are riding bicycles in the area. Participating organizations (Liberty Bicycles, Blue Ridge Bicycle Club and Asheville Bicycle Racing Club) will contribute a penny for each mile logged by their affiliated riders up to a cap decided by each organization. The money to be raised will benefit the WNC Trips for Kids and Carolina Youth Mountain Bike League here in Asheville. |

City:
ABRC has also joined with the City of Asheville, Department of Public Works, to adopt a street in our community. The Club is responsible for road-side cleanup of the Elk Mountain Scenic Hwy (portion within the City Limits, near Beaverdam Rd). Refer to the Club Events webpage and the Asheville Green Works site for scheduled cleanup dates and other related information. |
| Students from the University of North Carolina-Asheville and club members team up twice a year for road-side cleanup along the Elk Mtn Scenic Hwy in February, as part of the Adopt-a-Street program. |

Colleges/Universities:
ABRC has once again, committed financial support for 2011 to each of the listed educational organizations to support their recreational and competitive cycling programs. ABRC members and staff will conduct periodic clinics to each school to talk to students about competitive cycling, volunteer opportunities in our community, and other current cycling-related events. |

Schools:
Club members often participate/teach bike rodeo and bike advocacy classes offered to local elementary and middle schools in our area. These classes, offered by affiliated organizations such as the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club, aim to teach young kids basic bicycle skills. These skills are taught in regular classroom settings using regular bikes on the school's premises. Schools that have participated in these programs so far include:
- Owens Middle School
- Erwin Middle School
- Black Mountain Primary School
